I am directed by the Secretary of State for Air to refer to colonial Office letter of the 30th August, No. 53846/39 forwarding a copy of a despatch from the Governor of Hong Kong concerning an application by an American firm, the Inter-Continent Corporation, for permission to operate an air service between Hong Kong and Loiwing.

2.

In reply I am to request you to inform the Secretary of State for the Colonies that the proposed service would appear to Sir Kingsley Wood to be in the nature of a private service for the Company's domestic requirements and he sees no reason to dissent from the views of Lord Halifax as indicated in Foreign Office letter to the Colonial Office of the 7th September, No. 9709/118/10.

3. A copy of this letter is being sent to the Foreign Office.
